Adenovirus sp
Active
Description
Although adenovirus infections are rarely fatal, about 50 percent of infants and young children have prolonged intermittent disease and fatal adenovirus infections can occur in infants and immunocompromised adults. Most cases are diagnosed on clinical grounds alone. Viral culture can be used in selected clinical settings. Serologic testing usually relies upon the demonstration of antibodies to group-specific antigens. Individual serotype specificity is seldom required. (ARUP laboratory) Source: Regenstrief Institute
