Version 2.78

Description

3-hydroxyglutaric acid (3-OH-GA) is an important metabolite in glutaryl co-enzyme A dehydrogenase (GCDH) deficiency and considered to be a potential neurotoxin. Increased levels of 3-OH-GA is thought to be a biochemical risk factor for neurodegeneration in GCDH deficiency. PMID: 16573641 Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 16573641
