Description

N-acetyl-L-tyrosine (NAT) is an acetylated derivative of the amino acid L-tyrosine. As a supplement, NAT is commonly used in place of tyrosine, which is less stable and less soluble in water. PMID: 14621123 It is used as a protein supplement to treat phenylketonuria (PKU).
NAT is also used for other conditions such as depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), narcolepsy, and improving alertness following sleep deprivation. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
