Active
Description
Moraxella catarrhalis is important cause of otitis media, sinusitis, and lower respiratory tract infections in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The g1b gene is highly conserved across strains of M catarrhalis, and therefore, its presence in clinical specimens can be used to identify this organism as one of the pathogens responsible for a specific infection.
