Cells.t(9;22)(q34.1;q11)(ABL1,BCR)
Active
Description
Results are reported as a ratio of the number of bcr/abl transcripts in the patient sample to the G6PDH transcripts in control specimens. Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a proliferation of stem cells which possess a translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22. The t(9;22) translocation is also occasionally found in acute lymphocytic leukemia(ALL) and acute myelogenous leukemia(AML) during CML blast crisis. Successive testing of transcripts may be performed to monitor disease progression. Frequency of testing varies among patients, but current recommendations include BCR/ABL testing at 3 month intervals. Information from ARUP Laboratories 2007 03 22. Source: Regenstrief Institute
