Orthopedic functional index
Active
Description
The CareConnections Functional Index (CCFI) is used in outpatient physical therapy clinics for patients with musculoskeletal or neuromuscular conditions to help measure patients' functional status and quantify the effectiveness of treatment. Separate instruments are available for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. The instruments include general questions related to functional status as well as specific questions related to either neuromuscular function or each affected musculoskeletal region, which can include one or more of the following: temporomandibular joint, cervical/thoracic, lumbar, upper extremity and lower extremity. To calculate the CCFI, the patient's raw score is converted to a percentage by dividing the raw score by the maximum possible score based on the number of questions answered by the patient. A higher score indicates a better functional status. Patients can complete the instrument multiple times over the course of treatment and changes in their scores can be used to monitor therapy effectiveness. PMID: 24666407 Source: Regenstrief LOINC,
