Description
The pertussis toxin (PT) promoter region is involved in the regulation of virulence factors for Bordetella pertussis and is a commonly used target for the DNA-based diagnosis of B. pertussis infections. PMID: 10618063 Since the PT promoter region is present in other Bordetella species, including B. parapertussis, generic primers may be used for rapid detection and differentiation of the species.
