The Bordetella species gidA (or mnmG) gene encodes the tRNA uridine 5-carboxymethylaminomethyl modification enzyme MnmG (also known as Glucose-inhibited division protein A).[UniProt: A0A0J6C686] The gidA gene is used as a target for the DNA-based diagnosis of respiratory infections caused by Bordetella species, including B. parapertussis and B. bronchiseptica.
