Avian paramyxovirus
Active
Description
Avian paramyxoviruses are in the genera Avulavirus. Avian paramyxoviruses (APMV) consist of nine distinct known serotypes and the numbers will increase due to isolation of new unknown serotypes. The APMVs are separated into distinct serotypes using Hemagglutination assay and Neuraminidase assay.
Avian paramyxovirus 1 (APMV-1) causes Newcastle disease in avian species. The other serotypes may cause mild infections in avian species.
