Description

The smokybrown cockroach (Periplaneta fuliginosa) is a large species of cockroach, winged, and growing to a length of 1¼-1⅜ in. It is brown in color. It is closely related to the American cockroach however is easily distinguishable from it. It has a uniformly dark brown mahogany color. Its thorax is dark and shiny, unlike the light rimmed pattern of the American cockroach. It is very common in Japan as well as the southern United States, and in tropical climates. It can be found in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and other moist gulf coastal states, and along the southern Mississippi River.
