Coryphaena hippurus (mahi mahi) also referred to as dolphinfish lives in tropical and subtropical waters between the latitudes 46 degrees north and 38 degrees south.( https://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/discover/species-profiles/coryphaena-hippurus/) Coryphaena hippurus is known to be one of the fish to cause histamine poisoning. Also known as scombroid fish poisoning, histamine poisoning occurs after eating fish with high concentrations of histamine. The symptoms of histamine poisoning mimic those of an IgE-mediated allergic reaction and include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hives itching, red rash, and hypotension.
