Metallo beta-lactamase by meropenem to meropenem+EDTA inhibitory concentration ratio
Active
Description
Metallo beta-lactamase (MBL) enzymes are resistance enzymes whose activity is dependent on divalent cations such as zinc or cadmium, so that they can be inhibited by metal chelators such as EDTA. The presence of MBLs can be detected by comparing the inhibitory concentration (IC) of a specific antimicrobial, such as imipenem or meropenem, with the IC of that antimicrobial plus EDTA.
