Guidance for radioembolization for tumor
Active
Description
Radioembolization is a form of transarterial intervention that utilizes yttrium 90 (90Y) that is either bound to microspheres of resin or is an integral part of glass microspheres. The microspheres are 20-60 microns and are deposited at the tumor site where they block blood flow to the tumor and deliver intense local radiation. Radioembolization therapy can be difficult to interpret due to changes in the parenchyma which can include necrosis, lack of enhancement, and specific findings at positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.[http://pubs.rsna.org/doi/pdf/10.1148/rg.281065721] Source: Regenstrief LOINC
