Version 2.77

Description

Although there are many Palms that we call "Date Palms" (i.e., Pygmy Date Palm, Senegal Date Palm, Canary Island Date Palm, etc.), Phoenix dactylifera is the "true" Date Palm from which the tasty fruit is obtained. The fruit may be used fresh, dried, or as a syrup, yielding food products such as Date vinegar, Date chutney or sweet pickle, Date paste for bakery products, and flavouring for oranges, bananas and almonds. Date syrup is used as a sugar substitute.

Food allergy to fruit of the Date Palm tree is possible, but reactions are not common. Immediate hypersensitivity reaction: pharyngeal pruritis, oedema of the lips, dyspnoea, wheezing, dysphagia and dysphonia have been reported. Copyright Copyright © 2006 Phadia AB. Source: ImmunoCap, ImmunoCap
