Version 2.77

Description

Free hemoglobin levels rise as hemoglobin is liberated into the plasma from damaged or hemolyzed red blood cells. Plasma hemoglobin is increased in patients with intravascular hemolysis, ABO incompatible transfusions, traumatic hemolysis, falciparum malaria, burns, and March hemoglobinuria. Increases may also occur due to extravascular hemolysis, B-thalassemia major, warm-type autoimmune hemolytic anemia, delayed transfusion reactions, and some drugs.
