A tree species producing large amounts of pollen, which may induce hayfever, asthma and conjunctivitis in sensitised individuals.

Japanese cypress is an evergreen tree native to Japan and found most frequently in Southern Japan and in Taiwan (though it has been exported to many other temperate regions).
