Coxsackievirus B3 Ab
Active
Description
Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is a serotype of the human enterovirus B (HEV-B) species that is both neurotropic and cardiovirulent. CVB, in general, is the second most common picornavirus detected in children under two months old. CVB3 tends to infect the heart and liver, causing myocarditis, pericarditis and hepatitis. Infants with CVB3 infection typically are diagnosed with myocarditis or menigoencephilits. CVB3 can be transmitted by fecal-oral route or perinatal infection. HEV-B, specifically CVA9, CVB1, CVB3, and CVB5 may be involved in the pathogenesis of childhood diabetes. PMID: 26009802 PMID: 23347781 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
