Description
Enterobacter aerogenes, E. amnigenus and E. gergoviae are phenotypically and genetically similar similar species that are part of the Enterobacter non-cloacae complex. They are rod-shaped, non-spore-forming, facultative anaerobes and significant nosocomial, pathogenic bacterium. They cause lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft-tissue infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and various other infections in hospital settings.
