Lymphocytes.villous
Active
Description
Villous lymphocytes circulating in the peripheral blood are a characteristic finding in splenic marginal-zone lymphoma, a rare disorder comprising less than 1% of lymphoid neoplasms. Villous lymphocytes are characterized by polar cytoplasmic projections, or villi, which sometimes cause them to be mistaken for hairy cells (although hairy cell projections are not polar).
