Atypical porcine pestivirus
Active
Description
Veterinary medicine:
Atypical porcine pestivirus (APPV) is a species in the genus pestivirus that is associated with congenital tremor (CT) in piglets. CT can last several weeks to months and is associated with tremors that abate during sleep or inactivity. APPV is indirectly associated with mortality because it can affect feeding and impair neurological responses. It has been found in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. APPV RNA can be found in various specimens, but central nervous tissue consistently yields high viral loads. PMID: 30847345
