Mycobacterium tuberculosis lipoarabinomannan Ag
Active
Description
Lipoarabinomannan (LAM) is Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) cell wall antigen that can be useful to rapidly diagnose active pulmonary MTB in HIV-infected patients from a urine sample. Because of the importance of making this diagnosis quickly, this test is part of the World Health Organization's Essential Diagnostics List (EDL). Paradoxically, the detection of LAM antigen in the urine of non-HIV patients infected with MTB is not as reliable PMID: 29237757. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
