Description
The minimum lethal concentration (MLC) is the most common procedure used to determine the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) or the minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC). A precise aliquot of culture from the MIC wells or tubes that exhibited no growth are sub-cultured onto a non-selective agar plate and allowed to incubate for 24 hours. The number of colony-forming units per milliliter (CFU/mL) is determined. The MBC is defined as the lowest concentration of antibiotic that kills 99.9% of the final inoculum after a 24 hour incubation an in accordance with the standardized conditions stated in document M26-A. The MFC is defined as the lowest concentration of drug that kills 98-99.9% when compared to the initial inoculum (the sample in the clear wells or tubes).[Balouiri, Mounyr., Sadiki, Moulay., Ibnsouda, Saad Koraichi.
