Version 2.78

Description

2-Dechlroethylifosfamide (2-DCE-IF) is a metabolite that results from dealkylation of ifosfamide (IF), a chemotherapeutic agent used to treat solid tumors. The production of the 2-DCE-IF metabolites leads to equimolar amounts of chloroacetaldehyde, which is thought to be responsible for the nephrotoxic and neurotoxic adverse-effects associated with IF. Therefore, elevated levels of 2-DCE-IF lead to an increase risk for nephrotoxicity. PMID: 18825700 Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 18825700
