Version 2.78

Description

3,4-Dihydroxyphenylacetate (DOPAC) is a metabolite of dopamine via the monoamine oxidase (MAO) enzyme. Measurement of DOPAC in conjunction with dopamine can be used to examine dopamine turnover and MAO activity. There is also mention in the literature of using it in the evaluation of neuroblastoma, as well as in studying renal dopaminergic processing. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
