Ganglioside GD3
Active
Description
GD3 is one of the primary gangliosides found outside the central nervous system and is present in the pancreas. Approximately 50% of patients with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes have evidence of anti-GD3 autoantibodies; however, anti-GD3 antibodies have not been found in patients with pre-diabetes, which may indicate that anti-GD3 antibodies are not a primary event in the development of diabetes.
