    49052-4 Gestational age in days

    49051-6 Gestational age in weeks

Do these codes imply joint use or independent use?

I.e., if a child has a GA of 37 weeks and 3 days, would that be represented as joint:

    49051-6 Gestational age in weeks = 37

    AND

    49052-4 Gestational age in days = 3

    or independent:

    49051-6 Gestational age in weeks = 37.42

    OR

    49052-4 Gestational age in days = 262

    Hi Jay,

I wouldn’t say there’s any “implication”. My experience has always been decimal representation over 1 week; such as your 37.42 example. Have only seen systems with one field (their algorithms working off of either weeks OR days).

    Have a great week,

    Pam

    Thanks, Pam,

Yes, our source system uses the compositional approach, so if there’s precedent we’d prefer to keep it that way. But if that’s not what they mean, we don’t want to sow confusion.
