Beryllium (Be) exposure is an industrial hazard for workers in metal extraction, rocket bases, nuclear plants, refining plants, or where coal is burned extensively. Urine excretion is variable and does not correlate with disease. Toxicity from beryllium exposure is latent and chronic inhalation will lead to berylliosis, a chronic allergic-type lung response and chronic lung disease.
