Cannabidiol (CBD) is extracted from the Cannabis plant and unlike other phytocannabinoids lacks any psychoactive properties. CBD does demonstrate analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antineoplastic and chemopreventive characteristics. The CBD qualities of anti-proliferative, anti-angiogenic and pro-apoptotic leads to the inhibition of cancer cell invasiveness and metastasis. It may also help increase the uptake of cytotoxic agents in cancer cells. The analgesic effect of CBD occurs when it binds to and activates the CB1 receptor.[PubChem: 644019]
