Part Description
LP16653-5 Listeria monocytogenes
Listeria monocytogenes is a facultative anaerobic bacterium that has the ability to live intracellularly. It is ubiquitous in the environment, an important foodborne pathogen, and of concern to the food industry especially unpasteurized dairy. L. monocytogenes most commonly infects immunocompromised persons, the elderly and pregnant women. In the case of pregnant women, the fetal mortality rate has been reported as high as 45%, and in immunocompromised patients, can lead to meningitis, CNS infection or severe bacteremia. PMID: 28781746
