Part Descriptions
LP14559-6 Microorganism
A microorganism or microbe is an organism that is microscopic (too small to be visible to the naked eye). Microorganisms are often described as single-celled, or unicellular organisms; however, some unicellular protists are visible to the naked eye, and some multicellular species are microscopic. The study of microorganisms is called microbiology.

LP6103-8 Aerobic culture
An aerobic culture is a laboratory procedure where a sample of tissue or fluid from a patient is placed in or on growth media (agar, broth) in the presence of oxygen to induce the proliferation of potentially infectious agents (bacteria, fungi, viruses). Microbial growth is documented and the organisms are identified to determine whether or not a pathogen is present.Once a pathogen is identified, specific testing techniques can be used to determine drug susceptibilities for assistance in treatment. https://courses.lumenlearning.com/boundless-microbiology/chapter/culturing-bacteria/

LP7238-1 Body fld
The LOINC "Body fld" System represents body fluids other than serum, plasma, blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid. When a LOINC term with the System "Body fld" is used, the specific specimen source or body fluid type should be reported elsewhere with the result. Where more specific terms for pleural, peritoneal, synovial fluid, etc. exist, we encourage you to use the more specific terms. In contrast to "Body fld", the System "Asp" in LOINC represents the fluid withdrawn during an aspiration procedure from an abnormal collection of fluid, such as from an abscess or cyst. "Asp" is used for abnormal fluid collections that are aspirated, while "Body fld" is used for named body fluids, such as synovial fluid or peritoneal fluid, that are not inherently pathologic.
