Part Descriptions
LP17330-9 Vaccinium myrtillus
Blueberries are a group of flowering plants in the genus Vaccinium , sect. Cyanococcus. The species are native to North America and eastern Asia. They are shrubs varying in size from 10 cm tall to 4 m tall; the smaller species are known as lowbush blueberries, and the larger species as highbush blueberries. The leaves can be either deciduous or evergreen, ovate to lanceolate, and from 1-8 cm long and 0.5-3.5 cm broad. The flowers are bell-shaped, white, pale pink or red, sometimes tinged greenish. The fruit is botanically a true berry 5-16 mm diameter with a flared crown at the end; they are pale greenish at first, then reddish-purple, and finally turn blue or dark purple on ripening. They have a sweet taste when mature, with variable acidity. The blueberry season typically runs from May to October, peaking in July. All the species whose common names in English include blueberry are currently classified in section Cyanococcus of the genus Vaccinium.

LP17330-9 Vaccinium myrtillus
The name Blueberry is given to several related shrubs, and at least 50 species belong to the same genus as Blueberry. The round, smooth-skinned, blue-black berries are juicy and sweet and only about 10 mm in diameter. The Highbush variety of bush can grow up to 5 m in height; the hardier Lowbush blueberry plants can reach 1 m high. Blueberries are found wild and are cultivated in temperate to cold climates.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that Blueberry can occasionally induce symptoms of food allergy in sensitised individuals; however, no studies have been reported to date.

- Change Reason
- Release 2.75: Status: In order to give the data more machine reading and classification power, we deprecated the RAST class components because they are combination of Component/Analyte and Method RAST. We replaced them with new Component/Analyte by removing ".RAST Class", and we added new method "RAST" in the Method axis. Since these tests are falling under Semi-Quantitative project, we changed their previous Scale value to the new Scale value of "SemiQn"; Previous Releases: The Property has been changed from ACnc to Threshold to reflect the new model for ordinal terms where results are based on a cut-off value.; The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.; The Answer list type has been changed from 'Normative' to 'Example' due to the variability of the calibrator and the number of classes. Some labs use a low calibrator of 0.1 KU/L and include an additional 0/1 class, while other labs have continued with the 0.35 KU/L calibrator and have only 7 classes.
