Dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) is a phospholipid and the major constituent of pulmonary surfactant. It is also the only surface active component of lung surfactant capable of lowering surface pressure to near zero levels. DPPC is synthesized mainly through remodeling of phosphatidylcholine.
