Part Description

LP16829-1   Nickel
Nickel can be elevated in industrial exposures (specifically steels, some inks and batteries) and infarctions to target organs like heart, brain, or from massive skin damage. Nickel can cause skin rash - usually from nickel in jewelry. Chronic inhalation can also cause nasal and lung cancer.

In animal feed, the toxic dietary concentration is 10-100 times greater than normal feed concentrations. Symptoms of nickel toxicity (observed under experimental conditions) include depressed growth, feed intake and feed efficiency, hematological changes, and possible kidney damage.(Mineral Tolerance of Animals: Second Revised Edition, 2005) Source: Regenstrief Institute
