Metanephrines = (metanephrine+ normetanepharine) The first is the O methylated metobolyte of eppineprhine and the latter the O-methylatead metabolyte of noreppinephrine. They can be measured as a unit but more commoly today are measured seperately and called fractionated metanephrines and total metanprhines is the sum of the two. Both of these can be conjugated with sulfate and the conjugated form is mostly produced in the GI tract and is the predominant form in plasma. Source: Regenstrief Help
