PT (Prothrombin) Fragment 1.2 (1+2) reported in pmol/L. Conversion of prothrombin into active thrombin accompanied by fragment formation is a key event in the coagulation cascade. Elevated levels are detected in patients with thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation), poly-trauma, sepsis, hereditary thrombophilia, or deficiencies of protein C or protein S. Significant decrease will be found in patients on oral anticoagulant therapy or heparin therapy. Source: Regenstrief Institute
