Asp f 1 is a major allergen and is produced by the mycelia of A. fumigatus. Germination of spores and growth of the fungus appear to be essential for the production of this allergen. More than 80% of patients with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) are sensitised to this allergen. It is also raised in patients with cystic fibrosis with the complication of ABPA.
