cefTRIAXone [Susceptibility] for meningitis by Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)
Active
Term Description
Susceptibility of an isolate to ceftriaxone in the context of a patient with meningitis, i.e., the "meningitis breakpoint". Various agencies, including the FDA and CLSI in the U.S. and EUCAST in Europe, publish guidelines for determining susceptibility of different organisms to different antimicrobials. In most cases, susceptibility does not vary by type of infection, but for a few specific types of infection, including meningitis, pneumonia and urinary tract infection, certain antimicrobials have different susceptibility thresholds.

Part Descriptions
LP15260-0 cefTRIAXone
Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is effective against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and in terms of safety and efficacy, it is equivalent to cefotaxime. Ceftriaxone sodium is marketed by Hoffman-La Roche under the trade name Rocephin.

LP234793-0 Isolate.meningitis
Various agencies, including the FDA and CLSI in the U.S. and EUCAST in Europe, publish guidelines for determining susceptibility of different organisms to different antimicrobials. In most cases, susceptibility does not vary by infection site, but for a few specific types of infection, including meningitis, pneumonia and urinary tract infection, certain antimicrobials have different susceptibility thresholds, which are called "breakpoints". For terms in LOINC that represent specific breakpoints, the LOINC System will indicate the type of infection that the breakpoint is based on, for example, Isolate.meningitis, Isolate.pneumonia, and Isolate.UTI.
