LP14298-1 Chlamydia trachomatis
Chlamydia trachomatis is one of three bacterial species in the genus Chlamydia, family Chlamydiaceae, class Chlamydiae. C. trachomatis has only been found living inside human cells . It causes urethritis , epididymitis, and proctitis in men and cervicitis, salpingitis, urethritis and proctitis in women. C. trachomatis has also been detected in some patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease. It may be treated with any of several antibiotics such as azithromycin, erythromycin or doxycyclinetetracycline. C. trachomatis was the first chlamydial agent discovered in humans. It comprises two human biovars: trachoma and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV). Many, but not all, C. trachomatis strains have an extrachromosomal plasmid.

- The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.; Discouraged as part of the project to update LOINC chlamydia and gonorrhea terms based on the 2014 CDC "Recommendations for the Laboratory-Based Detection of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae" [PMID: 24622331]
