Part Descriptions
LP14717-0 Doxepin
Doxepin is a dibenzoxepin tricyclic compound. It displays a range of pharmacological actions including maintaining adrenergic innervation. Its mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it appears to block reuptake of monoaminergic neurotransmitters into presynaptic terminals. It also possesses anticholinergic activity and modulates antagonism of histamine H(1)- and H(2)-receptors.

LP14717-0 Doxepin
Doxepin is indicated for the short-term (up to 8 days) topical treatment of moderate pruritus in adult patients with eczematous dermatitis. E.g., atopic dermatitis and lichen simplex chronicus. Once absorbed into the systemic circulation, doxepin undergoes hepatic metabolism that results in the conversion to the pharmacologically active metabolite, desmethyldoxepin. The parent compound and its metabolite also undergo glucuronidiation.

- Change Reason
- The Property has been changed from ACnc to reflect the new model for ordinal terms where results are based on a cut-off value.; The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
