Maximum lysis.extrinsic coagulation system activated [Length fraction] in Blood by Rotational TEG
Active
Term Description
The ML (Maximum Lysis) parameter describes the percentage of lost clot stability (relative to MCF, in %) viewed at any selected time point or when the test has been stopped. A high ML value indicates hyperfibrinolysis. While in normal blood fibrinolysis activity is quite low, in clinical samples a more rapid loss of clot stability by hyperfibrinolysis may lead to bleeding complications which can be treated by the administration of antifibrinolytic drugs.

Part Description
LP270303-3 Thromboelastography.rotational
Rotational thromboelastography, also called thromboelastometry or ROTEM, is similar to traditional thromboelastography (TEG) in that it is used to measure the viscoelastic properties of a clot. In TEG, whole blood is added to a cup in which a pin is suspended, the cup is rotated, and as the clot forms, the rotational force is transferred to the pin. The movement of the pin is transformed into a tracing, from which the clotting parameters are derived. In ROTEM, the cup is stationary and the pin rotates, and as the clot forms, the rotation of the pin slows down. The torsion of the pin is transformed into a tracing from which the ROTEM parameters are derived. PMID: 22726088
