Part Descriptions

LP18546-9   Elastase
In molecular biology, elastase is an enzyme from the class of proteases (peptidases), that break down proteins.

Elastase is inhibited by the acute-phase protein α1-antitrypsin (A1AT), which binds almost irreversibly to the active site of elastase and trypsin. A1AT is normally secreted by the liver cells into the serum. α1-antitryspin deficiency (A1AD) leads to uninhibited destruction of elastic fiber by elastase; the main result is pulmonary emphysema. LP71771-7   Elastase Ab
Autoantibodies against elastase (ELA) may be found in patients with certain types of autoimmune vasculitis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener's), microscopic polyangiitis or eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Churg-Strauss). The elastase antibody is a type of a antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) that reacts with the elastase enzyme found in cytoplasmic granules of neutrophils. Change Reason
The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.

Both
