The submitter's request for this code was to cover the use of a test strip from Abbot's Precision Xceed Pro Blood Glucose and B-Ketone Monitoring System, which is a test strip method for measuring beta-hydroxybuturate in whole blood via a reader. However, this code is meant to be applied to any analogous test strip method for measuring beta-hydroxybuturate in blood.

Increases in beta-hydroxybutyrate are due to excessive fatty acid oxidation. Elevated levels are seen in gluconeogenesis, PHD complex deficiency, respiratory chain defects, IVA, PA, MMA, multiple carboxylase deficiency, 3-methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase deficiency, glyceroluria, MSUD, GA I, MAD deficiency, Beta-ketothiolase deficiencies, 2-amino/2-ketoadipic acidemia,mitochondrial SCHAD,and fatty acids oxidation deficiency.
