FSHB gene c.-211G>T [Presence] in Blood or Tissue by Molecular genetics method
Active
Part Description
LP145674-0 FSHB gene.c.-211G>T
The follicle-stimulating hormone beta (FSHB) gene encodes the follitropin subunit beta protein. The beta subunit protein, along with an identical alpha subunit, makes up the follicle-stimulating hormone, which is involved in egg and sperm production. A promoter polymorphism (c.-211G>T; rs10835638) in the FSHB gene was found to significantly reduce FSH serum levels and may be associated with reduced fertility in men (Grigorova et al. J Clin Endocrinol Metab 95:100-108, 2009, PMID: 19897680)

- Change Reason
- Property has been changed from Arb (arbitrary) to Pr (presence) to reflect our current model for Ordinal terms where the results are based on the presence or absence of a mutation or variant. Scale has been changed from Nom to Ord since results (e.g. present/absent or wildtype, heterozgous, homozygous) are ordinal.; The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
