Bacteria producing coagulase and protein A [Presence] in Isolate by Latex agglutination
Active
Term Description
Identification of Staphylococcal isolates, particularly S. aureus, which possess bound coagulase (clumping factor) and/or protein A can be determined by latex agglutination methods. Testing is performed to identify Staphylococcal isolates from other species of staphylococci.
According to the typical model that is currently used (2018) to report culture results to the patient's electronic health record from the laboratory system (e.g., LIS/LIMS), this test result is an intermediate result that is not reported outside of the laboratory or it is a final identification result that is reported using the original order code for the culture.
