Serotonin release 0.5 IU/mL heparin.unfractionated [Units/volume] in Serum
Active
Term Description
Resulted as percentage of specific serotonin release: (cpm test - cpm spont)/(cpm max - cpm spont) x 100, where cpm "spont" is the spontaneous release of [3H]serotonin from cells incubated in absence of antibodies, and cpm "max" is the maximum release of [3H]serotonin from cells lysed using 1% Triton X-100.
Part Description
LP175735-2 Serotonin release 0.5 IU/mL heparin.unfractionated
The serotonin release assay (SRA) is a functional test for the detection of heparin-dependent antibodies in heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). Patient's serum is added to donor platelets along with varying concentrations of heparin. Low heparin causes platelet activation in the presence of positive patient antibodies, with inhibition by excess heparin.
