Neuroblastoma 84 (NB84) monoclonal antibody is a useful biomarker for the differential diagnosis of neuroblastoma and other small round cell tumors. NB84 reacts with neuroblastoma but rarely with other small round cell tumors, including lymphoma, Ewing's sarcoma (ES), primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs), and blastemal Wilms' tumor. Diagnostic problems often occur when these tumors present in an unusual clinical context,e.g. extraadrenal primary or metastatic neuroblastoma, or extraskeletal ES or rhabdomyosarcoma at an unusual location. Intraabdominal and mediastinal locations are among the widest variation of differential diagnostic alternatives.
