Part Descriptions
LP17215-2 Agaricus hortensis
There are an estimated 1.5 million species of fungi, of which approximately 140,000 might qualify as Mushrooms, which can mean simply fungi with a large, above-ground fruiting body. However, there are approximately only 14,000 described species of Mushrooms. The main types of these Mushrooms are agarics (e.g., the Button mushroom), boletes, chanterelles, tooth fungi, polypores, puffballs, jelly fungi, coral fungi, bracket fungi, stinkhorns, and cup fungi. "True" Mushrooms are classified as Basidiomycota (also known as club fungi), and have a fruiting body known as a basidiocarp, with the stereotypical umbrella shape. The morel and truffle are classified as Ascomycota ("sac fungi"). "Toadstool" refers to those Mushrooms with poisonous fruiting bodies, and to other minor macrofungi.
Mushroom may uncommonly induce symptoms of food allergy in sensitised individuals. Fungal components can cause allergic symptoms through inhalation, ingestion or skin contact. Whereas respiratory allergy is thought to be induced by spores, allergic reactions following ingestion are attributed to other parts of the mushroom.

LP17215-2 Agaricus hortensis
Agaricus is a large and important genus of mushrooms containing both edible and poisonous species, with possibly over 300 members worldwide. The genus includes the common ("button") mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) and the field mushroom (Agaricus campestris), the dominant cultivated mushrooms of the West.
Members of Agaricus are characterized by having a fleshy cap or pileus, from the underside of which grow a number of radiating plates or gills on which are produced the naked spores. They are distinguished from other members of their family, Agaricaceae, by their chocolate-brown spores. Members of Agaricus also have a stem or stipe, which elevates the pileus above the object on which the mushroom grows, or substrate, and a partial veil, which protects the developing gills and later forms a ring or annulus on the stalk.

LP6366-1 LHR
The leukocyte histamine release test (LHR, LHRT) measures the amount of histamine released in-vitro in the presence of an allergen. Allergen extracts in varying concentrations are added to isolated leukocytes from peripheral blood. If the patient is hypersensitive to the specific antigen, the leukocytes will release the histamine in-vitro. The amount of histamine released will depend on the sensibility to the allergen.
