Part Description
LP16299-7 Trifluoperazine
Trifluoperazine is a conventional antipsychotic that has been used since the 1950s to treat schizophrenia. It is a derivative of phenothiazine and is related to chlorpromazine, and blocks the post-synaptic D2 dopamine receptor. Side effects include extrapyramidal symptoms such as dystonia, akathisia, and tardive dyskinesia, as well as confusion, agitation, dry mouth, and blurred vision. Trifluoperazine causes less sedation and hypotension compared to other conventional antipsychotics. PMID: 24414883
