LP19776-1 BCL6 gene rearrangements
The protein encoded by the BCL6 gene arrangements is a zinc finger transcription factor and contains an N-terminal POZ domain. This protein acts as a sequence-specific repressor of transcription, and has been shown to modulate the transcription of START-dependent IL-4 responses of B cells. This protein can interact with a variety of POZ-containing proteins that function as transcription corepressors. This gene is found to be frequently translocated and hypermutated in diffuse large-cell lymphoma (DLCL), and may be involved in the pathogenesis of DLCL. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different protein isoforms have been found for this gene.

LP19776-1 BCL6 gene rearrangements
The BCL6 gene (B-cell CLL/lymphoma 6) [HGNC Gene ID:1001] is located on chromosome 3q27. The protein encoded by this gene is a zinc finger transcription factor and contains an N-terminal POZ domain. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008] [NCBI Gene ID:604]

LP62864-1 FISH
FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) is a cytogenetic technique used to detect and localize the presence or absence of specific DNA sequences on chromosomes. FISH uses fluorescent probes that bind to only those parts of the chromosome with which they show a high degree of sequence similarity. Fluorescence microscopy can be used to find out where the fluorescent probe bound to the chromosomes. FISH is often used for finding specific features in DNA for use in genetic counseling, medicine, and species identification. FISH can also be used to detect and localize specific mRNAs within tissue samples. In this context, it can help define the spatial-temporal patterns of gene expression within cells and tissues.
