Staphylococcus aureus capsular polysaccharide enzyme cpe gene [Presence] in Nose by NAA with probe detection
Active
Term Description
This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, the Roche cobas® MRSA/SA Test, which is indicated for the direct detection of MRSA and SA DNA from nasal swabs to aid in the prevention and control of MRSA and SA infections in healthcare settings.
Part Description
LP200488-7 Staphylococcus aureus capsular polysaccharide enzyme (cpe) gene
The Staphylococcus aureus capsular polysaccharide enzyme (cpe) gene identifies the presence of Staph aureus (SA) regardless of antibiotic resistance. The SCCmec cassette-orfX junction (also called the SCCmec cassette right extremity junction region) is a nucleic acid target that specifically identifies methicillin-resistant SA (MRSA). These two tests can be used together to distinguish the presence of SA from MRSA.
